Whether the memoir gets the Netflix treatment or a series on Amazon Prime is still to be determined, but it appears that Gunner Bush’s memoir is moving in the direction of having its leads. The former Rolling Stone writer from Louisville, Kentucky, passed away last November. Still, his posthumous memoir is thriving on the Amazon book charts, and now Kayla Bush, who edited her brother’s memoir, is looking for someone to help turn it into a screenplay.
And this is after the “considered” leads of Jack Harlow, and Chet Hanks has been announced.
Jack Harlow is also a Louisville, Kentucky native, and it appears to come from the same area of the city as Gunner Bush. Kayla Bush spoke with Dope Future about this and how Jack would be perfect for playing her brother.
“Jack Harlow would be ideal. He is a Louisville kid like Gunner was, but also a kid from the Highlands like Gunner was. Gunner loved the Louisville music scene, especially hip-hop music, and Jack is the quintessential rapper from Louisville. We should contact Jack first.”
The memoir is titled “Suicide Notes to Kurt Cobain.” It ranked as high as second on the Amazon charts; it has gained steam with Gunner’s comparison to former Louisville writer Hunter S. Thompson and the connections to the 2016 Chicago Cubs, which also features a cameo by the legend, Bill Murray.
It is also stated in this interview with Kayla Bush that her brother wanted to interview influencer Cassidy Ann Payne to play the female role of Morgan Gayle. Cassidy Ann Payne is also a Kentucky native. (Although we do not see any acting experience on her resume.”
