Russell Simmons Joins Aid to Help Haiti

January 25, 2010

Russell Simmons comes to Wyclef Jean and his Yele Haiti Foundation’s defense at a press conference, quoting “He is a hero in Haiti, if he ran for president, he would probably win.” Russell doesn’t directly address the financial documents of Yele currently under scrutiny by many, as reported on HipHopRX.com, but he does point out that there are problems usually with charities and other non-profit organizations as well.

In the press conference, Russell says that Wyclef’s plan is to evacuate the people from what is being dubbed ‘the morgue’ and out them into tents, giving them food and supplies.

There are bodies everywhere and no where to bury the dead. Some bodies have already been buried/dumped, so some people will never know if their loved one is alive somewhere or if they’d been killed in the earthquake.

Russell never actually named the organizations that were “having problems,” but says that he knows for sure that they are too ‘having problems’ however Wyclef “did alot with a little.” Simmons added that we should concentrate on the people who are suffering on the ground, get them relocated like Wyclef is suggesting and get them access to some good healthcare.

Kanye West Snubbed By George Clooney Haiti Telethon

January 23, 2010

Kanye West’s outspoken reputation has left him on the outside looking in, says the gossip site Popeater. Tomorrow, celebrities from various mediums will partake in a George Clooney-hosted telethon to raise aid and relief for last week’s tragic earthquake in Haiti, a disaster that has reportedly taken the lives of nearly 200,000.

Not invited was Kanye West, who previously stirred controversy when he said, then-United States President “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” Someone on the production staff spoke to Popeater, and cited that 2005 incident, as well as the MTV Video Music Awardsincident with Taylor Swift last year as reason enough to not include the Chicago superstar.

“Kayne [sic] has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it’s just not about him,” said the anonymous “producing partner.”

The special, airing tomorrow evening on all major networks, including MTV, will however feature on-site reporting in Haiti from Wyclef Jean. The onetime Fugees front-man and prolific producer has raised over one million dollars in aid in less than a week.

UPDATE: Today Us Magazine reports that yesterday’s quotes were not a factual. A new, but again nameless rep spoke to the leading Pop culture magazine and said, “That’s absolutely not true. We did reach out to Kanye.” The new facts come with additional information that says Will Smith, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Alicia Keys have now also pledged their support to tonight’s event.

Former Bad Boy Producer Launches Artist Development Company

January 23, 2010

Anthony “Scoe” Walker is set to utilize his near decade of experience as a Bad Boy producer and A&R to develop artists through the newly founded Temp Music Management.

With labels reticent to spending any money on new artist development, Walker’s company looks to assist new artists on industry protocols such as image consulting, production, and how to submit materials to labels.

Walker cultivated his career after arriving in New York from his native Lake Charles, LA.

After meeting with Bad Boy A&R Conrad Dimanche, he sold his first production track to Loon, and then moved on to work with 702, Tamia, Eightball & MJG, and Dream.

His work led to him handling A&R duties for Suavehouse’s Rick Ross LP Rise to Power. In Mario Winans and Conrad Dimanche, Walker retained two mentors that encouraged his vision to help new artists make a way in the ever-changing music industry.

“During my time producing records for Bad Boy, artist Mario Winans took me under his wing and showed me a lot of what I know now,” Walker stated to AllHipHop.com. “Relationships that I have forged with people like him and Conrad have been of insurmountable value to me, and I feel like I owe it to the next generation of music makers to share the knowledge I’ve gained.”

Temp Music Management purports to offer clients an extended network of music executives, lawyers, and producers for consultations to empower the artist(s) for an eventual major label meeting.
